Sketchnotes: Parvati Pillai
Animation was her first love, bred from the cartoons she watched at a young age. Illustration was her second, blooming in her fifth semester at MIT Institute of Design in Pune where she was studying to be an animator. It was something she turned to in order to nurse her homesickness: but now, she’s at Chumbak, in her words “making some epic and happy designs for the brand.”
Parvati’s work is very sweet, very amusing and very bright. Her work often pops with colour and an overwhelming innocence, giving away a possible inner-child. We particularly like the light and childlike treatment of subjects such as friendship and couple-hood.
Like every good artist, she finds her work emerges from an irrepressible urge to express herself. She loves the artists Van Gogh, Mario Miranda, and Pascal Campion among an endless list of favourites (is it ever possible to pick just one?).
You can see more of her work on her Behance and Facebook page.
