Weekend Shakers: Priti Nair
Some of you might just be wrapping up work right now; few of you must have sneaked away from work to kickstart the weekend early and some of you must have already started guzzling down beer (or Old Monk or whatever). Here is something to further brighten this Friday evening- Priti Nair’s recommendations for the weekend.
BOOK – Life After Death by Deepak Chopra
This book changed my entire perspective towards life, death, living and people.
FILM – Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro
This movie is still as funny as it was when it was first released. Mad crazy plot executed beautifully. The scene that still has me rolling over the floor is when Satish Shah’s corpse with a moustache is made to play Draupadi.
TV SERIES – Crime Patrol – Dastak
This is by far the best Indian serial on TV. Hats off to the casting directors. Unlike all our other high pitched, stereotypical serials, this one is pitched perfectly to realism.
WEBSITE – Youtube.com
This one is best for the ‘HAVE YOU SEEN THIS REALLY FUNNY VIDEO? LET ME SHOW YOU’.
And then you go through some really funny ones and you get more on the side, so it does not stop.
CAFÉ/RESTAURANT – Aga’s café at Dadar
The best kheema brun maska ever. After a nice hard work-out at the gym, heading to Aga’s for breakfast is heaven. It has been exactly the same since I was a child. And Aga still greets us with the same mad statements – Kaisa hain? Burun khatam ho gaya.
FUN ACTIVITY FOR THE WEEKEND – BEER. BIRYANI.CAROM (BBC)
We are a carom loving family. With the aroma of mutton biryani and chilled Kingfisher pints by our feet as we play, the weekend just seems the way god wanted it to be.
MUSIC – Old Hindi Classics
I have a collection of some 100 odd Hindi songs called “Happy Old”. As we play carom, these keep playing in the background. You can never get over these.
